Raife Petersen

Hi, I’m Raife Petersen. I’m currently in the 8th grade at Treasure Mountain Junior High in Park City, UT.

Sports & Outdoors

1

Lacrosse

I love playing sports. My favorite is lacrosse.  I’m currently playing Fall Ball with the Park City lacrosse team.  I have been playing for five years!

2

Alpine Ski Team

I also love to ski.  I have been on the Alpine Ski Team in Park City and this year I’ll join the All Mountain Ski Team.  My favorite part of skiing is just being on the mountain!

Hiking

I also love to play tennis and go hiking with my dog Scout.

Travel & Adventure

I love to travel.  Last year, I was lucky to travel internationally four times!

We started the New Year, traveling to Costa Rica, where I learned to surf and spend time with my family.  Then I  spent 2 1/2 months in Switzerland at the Winter Term (more on that in a bit).  Over the summer, I was able to travel to France.  My mom and I toured Paris, seeing the sights.  My favorite was the Eiffel Tower and how it lit up at night and going to Roland Garros with my mom and watching a tennis match.  While in France, I had the opportunity to join The Best Defense Foundation, which is an organization that brings WWII veterans back to the battlefields that they fought on.  This year was the 80th Anniversary of D-day, so it was extra meaningful to stand on Omaha beach with my dad and learn about what the veterans encountered there.  I enjoyed talking to the veterans and hearing the stories of their lives.  At the end of the summer, I went to Camp Pathfinder, where I spent a month portaging  from lake to lake with my canoe.

Winter Term

Last January, I attended The Winter Term school in Lenk, Switzerland.  It was an amazing experience.  I was there for 2 1/2 months.  There was no technology at this school.   We had classes all morning and skied in the afternoon.  On the weekends, we would take trips to learn more about Switzerland.  I made great friendships there with classmates and teachers.
